Raised in Pennsylvania , my husband and I moved to Florida very early in our marriage and have called it home ever since.
I'm mostly self - taught with the exception of a six week watercolor class in 1987 and a few workshops here and there. I love studying the Atelier painting book series, reading about the processes other contemporary artists use and experimenting to see what will work best for me.
Currently I find myself working in oils and soft pastels painting portraits and landscapes, but I have experience in a variety of media. I have illustrated a series of children's books in watercolor and ink entitled "The Adventures With PawPaw" by Diana Scimone. I illustrated a wordless book for Born2fly.org designed to teach children and their parents about the dangers of child trafficking. It is being test marketed around the world in 2011 and 2012.
I spent several years painting wall murals all over central Florida in homes and businesses.
In 1998 I painted sidewalk chalk drawings for Disney World's Animation Celebration. And finally very early in my career I participated in outdoor art festivals for a few years.
In my paintings I am always striving to evoke an emotion and create a connection. In my landscapes my goal is to take the viewer to that place in their imagination and feel what I felt when I was there. In my portraits I strive to reveal my subjects personality, and character encouraging the viewer to feel an intimacy with the painting and subject.
