Framing a pastel painting takes a little extra care. If you aren't comfortable doing it yourself, I recommend that you go to a reputable picture framer to get the job done properly and to ensure that your art investment is protected and lasts for years to come.
Pastels are a wonderful, vibrant, rich medium of almost pure pigment that won't fade in the sun. However, it is important to have them framed with care. Ask your framer to insert spacers between an archival mat and backing board. This will keep your painting from touching the glass, and it will keep any pastel dust from falling onto the mat.
I offer a matting option with spacers on a backing board for only $15. I have sized these to fit in a 12"x16" frame, so this is a super easy and economical option for displaying your favorite four-footed friend.
